Overview

As the SelectQuote Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Director, you are a strong leader who is passionate about the ever changing digital media landscape. We are looking for someone who is highly knowledgeable about search engine optimization (SEO) best practices, has experience helping large sites rank for competitive keywords and staying on top of the latest trends in SEO and website best practices. The best fit for this position is someone who is competitive and loves learning, improving and challenging themselves every day. The SEO Director will be a thought leader and innovator in the digital marketplace, working to ensure SelectQuote’s dominance and leadership in digital marketing best practices and innovation.


The SEO Director is responsible for directly managing external resources, agencies and a small team to execute all SEO initiatives for all web properties for SelectQuote; one of the country’s preeminent national insurance brokerages. This includes developing the strategy and managing the execution for on-page and off-page tactics to grow SelectQuote’s web properties rankings in the search engine results pages (SERPs) for high value keywords. All campaigns will be dedicated to generating high quality leads for a fast growing team of insurance agents while meeting aggressive marketing performance and ROI goals. Speed is imperative rather than perfection, and the SEO Director recognizes that moving fast and testing is critical to success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct all search engine optimization efforts. Directly responsible for growing search engine traffic, conversion rates for traffic to lead on website and CTR on search engine SERPs
  • Lead a small team to manage daily tasks for SEO and content campaigns to drive lead volume and keyword rankings
  • Oversee any external vendor relationships for SEO. Hold vendors accountable for key performance metrics, pushing for improved performance and hitting deadlines and goals
  • Serve as mentor, trainer, coach and backup for team
  • Work with content teams to create content that drives SEO value, keyword rankings, traffic and lead generation through web properties and provides value for SEO optimization
  • Own performance for SEO campaigns and initiatives. Hold vendors and specialists accountable for driving rankings on competitive keywords and improving lead generation through web properties by improving keyword rankings and traffic volumes
  • Conduct keyword research and competitive analysis to inform SEO plans and tactics
  • Coordinate, collaborate and own A/B testing efforts including pages, forms and websites to maximize form conversion and improve cost per lead
  • Continually evaluate and recommend additional initiatives and campaigns that could positively impact the overall marketing/lead generation strategy
  • Analyze & generate daily and monthly marketing reports as well as provide recommendations on strategies to optimize and improve performance using Analytics data
  • Participate as a thought-leader by sharing knowledge and best practices with the digital team, leadership and business unit teams
  • Build a strong team of SEO experts focused on continual improvement, innovation and excellence. Create a culture of learning. Ensure best practices are shared among team
  • Collaborate with division leaders and others on the marketing team to ensure all marketing initiatives and messaging are consistent and aligned with company and division goals

Qualifications

  • Expert at defining and managing SEO efforts for large web properties and proven track record of keyword rankings improvement and ROI using on-page and off-page tactics
  • Able to show examples of success in improving rankings for websites for competitive keywords, growing traffic and conversion rates from SERPs for sites with more than 100k visitors and keywords with more than 100k searches per month
  • Expert in modern SEO best practices (content generation, CRO, tools to measure etc)
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and content management systems, such as WordPress, required. Ability to create web pages using WordPress or other tools preferred
  • Familiar and experienced with SEO tools such as Google Web Master Tools, Google Analytics, Bing Web Master Tools, Ahrefs, MOZ, Brightedge etc. Able to pull reporting.
  • Experience managing or supervising a small team preferred
  • Ability to analyze and understand large sums of data
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to implement changes rapidly that positively impact marketing performance

Training and Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience managing SEO campaigns required, 5-10 years’ experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills required
  • Critical thinker with an ability to apply data and analytics to drive decision making and impact marketing analytics required
  • Experience managing or supervising a team preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or related field preferred
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Google Analytics or other Analytics certification preferred
  • Experience managing ROI driven campaigns, not just brand or engagement required
  • Experience with lead generation and form best practices preferred
