Job Summary:

The Finance & Business Operations Manager will work closely with Finance and IT Leadership to analyze and understand the costs associated with all stages of the software development lifecycle. This role will also be responsible for working with the data enablement and analytics team to define data structures and KPI’s related to IT processes The role will provide critical feedback to the IT and business teams on KPI results as well as learning the operation to be a thought partner in how to drive change. While the role will report to finance the primary direction of the role will come from the SVP of Business Process. The Finance & Business Operations Manager will support the SVP, Business Processes and other department leaders in reporting on the success of initiatives and making informed decisions about new and existing projects. This is a high-profile role with routine exposure to the executive team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and report on KPI’s related to the software development lifecycle to measure success of IT initiatives in partnership with the SVP of Business Processes, IT leadership, and data team
  • Create and maintain an effective model to accurately estimate and report on the costs of IT projects, breaking out portions of expense for capitalization and the various stages of the software development lifecycle
  • Assist in the development of visualization tools that facilitate communication in multiple aspects of the IT/Business process including, but not limited to, ROI, Critical KPI development and sharing, cost analysis, project status dashboard reporting, quantitative issue log, throughput analysis, efficiency grading, etc.
  • Support IT project prioritization process by performing financial cost-benefit analysis (e.g. ROI, IRR), including estimating the costs and benefits of new requests as well as analyzing historical business performance
  • Estimate costs for all current and new IT initiatives to measure against; perform post-mortem cost/benefit analysis and highlight areas of improvement for IT and operations leaders
  • Act as a finance leader in being operationally involved with Business/IT to suggest process improvements, communication tools, software enhancements, etc.
  • Work closely with department and business unit leaders to ensure they are aware of all pending projects, prioritization, and associated costs
  • Build presentations and reports to share results and actionable analysis to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with IT leaders to identify process improvement opportunities

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, preferably with experience in a finance or finance-adjacent function
  • Proficiency with SQL Server, Advanced Excel Skills, MS Office, Data Visualization tools like Tableau or QuickSight
  • Problem solving mindset with an ability to translate technical language into business terms and vice versa
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills ∙ Familiarity with IT processes, the software development lifecycle, and capitalization requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, analytics, IT, or related field ∙ 5+ years of experience working in finance/accounting, supporting finance/accounting in a technical, analytic, or reporting role, or comparable analytics-heavy roles
  • Experience “owning” a complex financial or reporting model ∙ Experience working with integrating data from disparate sources ∙ Experience working with senior executives preferred
