Job Summary:

The Manager of Inventory purchasing will lead a team of purchasers responsible for all inventory buying and optimizations. This position is also responsible for purchasing inventory to support sales and operations for SelectRx two locations. This position analyzes sales data, forecasts demand, and places purchase orders with suppliers to maintain optimal inventory levels. This position is responsible for negotiating secondary wholesale agreements.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the optimization of inventory purchasing, including monitoring and adhering to contractual standards while optimizing profitability of purchases
  • Maintain interface with vendors to ensure the procurement of high quality merchandise, expedient delivery, and dependable service at optimum price
  • Negotiate contractual arrangements between the organization and selected vendors committing funds up to authorized limits
  • Oversees and approves all purchase orders.
  • Analyzes markets to determine vendor sources and product availability. Remains cognizant of market fluctuations affecting prices. Interviews and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Lead a team responsible for populating inventory records for use in pharmacy and updates price and prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and identify an appropriate corrective action.
  • Approve invoices for payment.
  • Ability to automate invoicing and purchasing procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented with ability to multitask
  • Proficient in ERP and inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices and e-procurement tools.
  • Knowledge of sourcing, procurement and supplier negotiation
  • Service oriented with a high degree of interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to procure supplies, materials, and pharmaceuticals for the pharmacy
  • High professional ethics and standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy software and reporting system
  • Understand and maintains confidentiality regarding patient medications and illnesses (HIPPA).
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, associates, clients, and general public.

Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical purchasing experience preferably in a distribution environment
  • Experience with SureCost or similar purchasing solution
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills

Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
